Tirupur-based Shankar & Co, an established player in the packaging sector, continues to strengthen its presence in serving leading clients from the textile and garment industry. In line with its focus on meeting evolving customer requirements and enhancing production efficiency, the company has installed a new Komori Lithrone G40 Advance press, aimed at boosting its printing and production capabilities.

Founded in 1983, Shankar & Co is a family-owned enterprise that has witnessed significant growth over the past four decades. The company is now led by its second generation, with Shankar Elangovan taking charge of operations. He notes that his current focus is on driving the company’s next phase of expansion, with a strong emphasis on technology-led growth and modernization.

Recalling the early days of Shankar & Co, Elangovan, says, “Like many in the industry, our business started barely with a treadle press, followed by a single-color offset press, and eventually multi-color presses one after another arrived in our facility as we grew from one level to another time and again. When telling our growth story, brand Komori cannot be missed out. Over the years of our development, there has been a string of Komori presses that play a vital role in bringing success to business.”

Elangovan further states that the company has recently set up a new 57,000 sq ft production facility, and with the expanded infrastructure, the installation of a new Komori offset press was a natural progression. The company has installed the Komori Lithrone G40 Advance at the facility.

He adds that Shankar & Co has been operating an earlier Lithrone press for nearly a decade, which has consistently delivered precision and reliability, and is now complemented by the newly installed Lithrone G40 Advance.

“When we were in pursuit of a new offset press, our ultimate focus was on the latest technology with proven precision,” says Elangovan. “We found it in the Lithrone GL40 Advance that ideally offers advanced automation and stability aligning with our production goals.” This brand new Komori press is equipped with PDC-SX that enables faster makeready time, accurate color control, and reduced setup time. The press also features non-stop feeder and delivery allowing continuous production and significant improvement in uptime and overall efficiency.

Praising the persuasive proactive approach of the team Komori India when they planned for the Lithrone GL40 Advance, Elangovan states that the team, right from the moment of their first mutual discussion, provided complete clarity. He says, “We received regular updates on the machine status, payment schedules, and site requirements. Engineers from the team visited our plant multiple times to ensure readiness. From unloading to live production of the press, the entire process took just 10 days.”

Perfect for precision and productivity, Lithrone GL40 Advance operates at the minimum speed of 15,000 sph (sheets per hour). “Now, we are future-ready with this brand new Komori press, which builds up our confidence to scale up production and take on more complex jobs, delivering everything at a faster speed,” says Elangovan, adding that they are considering adding yet another Komori press to expand into the food nd pharmaceutical packaging sector soon.
