MPS EF-APC Advanced with 100% print automation

At this year’s Labelexpo Americas in September, MPS Systems North America will return with a strong presence in demonstrating two future-ready presses for the narrow web industry: a fully-automated EF flexo press in the North American debut of Automation Arena, and the EF SYMJET digital/flexo hybrid solution on the MPS booth 911.

Fully-automated flexo press with connectivity
In the Automation Arena, MPS will demonstrate the EF-APC advanced machine with 100% print automation, for both sleeves as well as anilox positioning. A valuable feature of this automated flexo solution is the MPS ‘talk to me’ connectivity technology, for Industry 4.0 implementation.

Introduced to the market last year at Labelexpo Europe, ‘talk to me’ is a protocol forexchanging data between Management Information Systems (MIS) and MPS printing presses as well as to pre- and post-press systems, to digitally supply set-up variables to the machines. This technology also provides real-time information from the machines, required for companies to be truly productive and remain competitive.

Bert van den Brink, technical director at MPS, commented: “We are pleased to once again participate along-side other connectivity-focused suppliers in Automation Arena, as it provides printers and converters a valuable step-by-step understanding of an end-to-end automated and live production environment, to get ready for the future of print.”

The key to future profitability: hybrid printing
Featured on the MPS booth 911 (Hall A) will be the EF SYMJET hybrid flexo/inkjet solution. This innovative press combines the stability of the MPS EF flexo platform with the integrated well-proven Domino N610i inkjet engine, allowing converters to combine flexo and digital printing as well as converting, all in one pass.

“The EF SYMJET hybrid flexo inkjet solution makes the impossible, possible — it provides converters with a range of new print potential and combines the best of conventional and digital technology,” added Eric Hoendervangers, Global Sales & Marketing Director at MPS. “Plate roller technology for the flexo units, developed specially for the North American market, will also be a feature of the hybrid press on show.”

Automation Arena: the future of label and package printing
Initially introduced at Labelexpo Europe 2017 in Brussels, with MPS as a participating partner, Automation Arena proved to be a popular experience and will make its first North American presence in Chicago.

Visitors to the Automation Arena will see two automated press lines for conventional (shrink sleeve) and digital (label) production. Tasha Ventimiglia, Labelexpo Americas event director, commented in an interview with Labels & Labeling: “It’s a unique opportunity for attendees to view the future of the industry by experiencing a fully automated workflow process, enabling them to keep one step ahead of competitors.”

Labelexpo Americas will take place in Chicago from 25 to 27 September 2018. MPS will be present at Hall A, Stand 911 at the Automation Arena.
