The Scodix E106 enhancement press delivers superior enhancement solutions for printers in the packaging industry. With new and innovative capabilities, Scodix E106 provides viable, profit-generating opportunities for the folding carton market. Uniquely designed in B1 (1060 x 760 mm) format for ultra-fast production, and speeds up to 5000 sheets per hour, the press supports exceptional short to medium run lengths. Exclusive to Scodix, this exceptional combination of features and functionality provide unmatched benefits for folding carton printers and converters to differentiate their offering and boost profit margins. “The Scodix E106 press delivers multiple premium quality applications on one platform. These include Scodix Foil, Scodix Sense, Scodix Spot, Scodix Variable Data and Scodix Cast & Cure. Brand owners can create stunning products using foil over foil, adding Scodix Sense effects over foil, or personalizing with Scodix Variable Data Sense or Scodix Variable Data Foil – effects that were previously achievable in this market,” said Jain.

Monotech has sold more than 30 Scodix presses so far in India. Of these, around 25 are Scodix S74 and S75 presses, and around five are Scodix Ultra presses. “Scodix Ultra is positioned for the offset and packaging market. At speeds up to 1,250 sheets per hour, we feel that for embellishment requirements, Scodix Ultra press is a great product for the packaging market in India.”

Product differentiation takes center stage
According to Jain, to stay ahead in a competitive market like India, product differentiation is a must. “And keeping that in mind, Scodix offers opportunity both in the offset and the packaging markets – by helping differentiate the product and create that product value to the packaging. So that is where Scodix is positioned – to differentiate in the packaging market to give a different experience to the customer through creative and innovative packaging,” explained Jain.

Jain said that catering to the offset/packaging market is not as easy as to the photo market. “The challenge is that in the offset market, customers use different kind of media for printing as against photo market where similar media is being used again and again. So it is not easy for an embellishment press to handle so many different media. But fortunately for us, with Scodix’s innovative technologies, we have been able to satisfy our customers so far. That is where our expertise or the expertise of our equipment lies – to handle multiple kinds of media which is generally used for offset printing.”

Jain also feels that there is no threat from the Chinese market as such. He said, “Technologically we are far ahead and advanced, and so it will take some time for them to catch up. Of course there is competition from MGI but again the unique advantage of Scodix is that it is completely focused on print enhancement and that is where both in terms of product capabilities and application possibilities we are far ahead as compared to the competition in the market.”
