Omet introduced a new midweb offset printing line for its customers in order to give them the possibility to enlargen their product portfolio. The launch of the Varyflex V4 recently took place at an open house at Omet’s headquarters in Lecco, Lago di Como, on 10 March 2017. Omet sees this new line for label printers and converters as well as for flexible packaging companies in order to achieve more flexibility regarding product range – called “your passport to packaging”.
Midweb printing presses are introduced by more and more companies causing a relevant question: how relevant will this trend be for the label industry during the upcoming years? It will be important to keep all eyes open how many companies are investing and in which line they will invest.
The new line Varyflex V4 Offset features 33”1/2-wide (850 mm) offset groups with patented sleeve technology, combined with new fully automatic flexo units able to reach a maximum mechanical speed of 400 m/min – according to Omet. Due to the integration of an electron beam curing system and to low migration inks, Varyflex V4 Offset is suitable for food packaging printing.
The Varyflex V4 Offset incorporates automatic adjustment of cross- and machine-direction print register using a multi-camera scanning system. In Offset mode automatic register control balances incorrect plate mounting or compensates for substrate stretch. The press allows considerable flexibility, printing either wet-on-dry, mounting UV lamps between printing stations, or wet-om-wet with either UV drying or electron beam curing at the end of the press.
