Noida-based Om Mithila Industries has installed a high-speed folder-gluer from Robus India to produce high-end cartons to produce food packaging boxes. The machine was installed in January 2023. Established in 2000, the company currently produces corrugated boxes for LED TVs, LED lights, garments and tertiary packaging in addition to mono-cartons, liner cartons, metpet cartons, and alu-foil laminated cartons which it supplies to the food industry.

With speeds up to 450 meters per min, the Robus Excellence Series 1100PC folder-gluer can produce lock-bottom and 3-ply cartons, and can paste both liner and mono cartons. The machine can produce both 6- and 4-corner cartons for packaging mithais (sweets) and gift items. “The Robus folder-gluer installed at our plant is an ideal machine for printers like us who serve the food industry,” said Ram Jivan Singh of Om Mithila Industries.

“We had a folder-gluer from another company but we were never satisfied with its performance and the after-sales service of that company. So, we sold that machine and installed the Robus folder-gluer. Having good after-sales support is crucial when it comes to capital equipment. Robus provides great support and helps resolve any issues or problems with the equipment and ensures that it remains secure and reliable,” said Singh.

Based in Noida, Om Mithila Industries was founded in 2000 by Singh with a corrugation plant producing universal cartons. 10 years later, the company expanded its portfolio and started supplying mono cartons and liner cartons to its clients. In 2011, the company shifted to its own premises in Sector 80, Noida from where it still operates. The company installed its first printing press – a Heidelberg CD 6-color plus coater press – in 2022. The total production area of the plant is 900 sq. meters and employs around 40 people.

Singh is a first-generation businessman who got inspired to start his packaging plant after visiting a packaging company in Noida where one of his friends used to work. Singh at that time visited Noida and called upon his friend who took him on a tour of his company. “I always wanted to start my own business and after visiting my friend’s company, I realized that I too can start a similar business. There was not much business scope in the place where I came from. So, I decided to start my business in Noida. Since then it has been a roller-coaster ride for me but today I am very much enjoying what I am doing.”

Om Mithila Industries recently purchased a 5,000 sq-meter plot near Yamuna Expressway, Greater Noida to expand its business.

Robus India in Greater Noida

Robus India now manufactures folder-gluers entirely at its Greater Noida plant leveraging its expertise and R&D. Prem Viswakarma, who himself is an R&D guy who worked at Bobst before starting his own company Robus India, said, “Thanks to our R&D team, we have been able to add to our machines new features which help reduce job changeover time. Some important features of our machines are center conveyor up and down, motorized conveyor system, etc. These features are being offered to our customers at a very reasonable price. R&D has been in our blood since the inception of Robus India and that is what enables us to manufacture machines of international standards.”
