[dropcaps style=’2′]Noida-based Captain Offset Printers – a manufacturer of monocartons and E-flute/ micro flute corrugated boxes, predominantly for electricals, home appliances and liquor companies – recently invested in a brand new Bobst Visionfold 101 A2 folder-gluer to further strengthen its postpress unit. Vivek Rakheja of Captain Offset said, “Customers’ demand for perfection and flawless quality coupled with our endeavor to minimize waste and errors at all times to effect just-in-time manufacturing has led to this investment. Designed to run at speeds up to 350 m/minute, the Bobst Visionfold folder-gluer is capable of running cartonboard up to 800 gsm, and micro-flutes up to E-flute. A long pre-breaking section allows for 180 degree pre-breaking of boxes at high speed, regardless of the substrate. Because of its ease of set up and effortless repeatability, Bobst Visionfold delivers the same flawless quality every time the job runs. According to Rakheja, the machine will allow Captain Offset to add versatility in the types and styles of packaging in addition to providing safety.
Captain Offset Printers started its journey in 1983 with a single press, producing printed sheets for corrugated boxes. In 2003, it set up its own corrugated box-making unit and over the time invested massively in strengthening its pressroom and postpress units by installing multi-color presses, corrugated machines including flute laminator and die-punching machines. At present, Captain has eight die-punching machines including an automatic one. Three years ago, the company imported a brand-new flute laminator and later on imported two all-new folder-gluers in 2016. The printing division of the company is powered by five KBA presses, including a 6-color and a 5-color press. The print format of these presses range between 28 x 40 inch and 44 x 64 inch.
In addition to the Bobst Visionfold, Captain also installed a brand-new 52 x 72 inch basysPrint CtP which is currently producing 32 to 35 plates every day. Spread over two buildings on a 10,000 sq. ft. area, Captain Offset Printers converts around 400 tonnes of duplex and kraft paper every month. “These new investments, with its game-changing focus on production quality and consistency, will give us the peace of mind that we can continue to drive our standards even higher while maintaining our manufacturing flexibility,” said Rakheja.
Captain Offset supplies its boxes to companies in North India. 70% of the company’s business constitutes corrugated boxes, while the rest is monocartons. The company plans to set up another plant next year and a huge round of investment is on the cards once again.
