At Anuga FoodTec 2026, Nichrome India showcased two additions to its packaging portfolio: a new case packer for secondary packaging of pouches and a high-speed pick-fill-seal machine from Japan’s General Packer, which Nichrome represents in India.
The case packer is designed to handle 1 kg to 10 kg pouches and will be supplied to a rice exporter. It can handle around 10 cartons a minute and can be integrated with a case erector to provide a complete end-of-line packaging solution.
The General Packer machines address applications across snacks, nuts and dry fruits, dehydrated products, vegetable seeds, pet food, cake mixes, sauces, ketchup and chocolate paste. Nichrome took up the India representation for the Japanese company as demand for high-speed pouching increased across these categories.
The servo-controlled machines allow easy setting of different pouch sizes and quantities. Depending on the application, the machines operate at speeds of around 60 to 100 packs a minute, with higher speeds also possible. Nichrome also sees opportunities in the growing snack and premium food segments. Its applications includes Indian snacks, chips, extruded snacks, nuts and dry fruits.
“We are also looking at very premium products, especially the snack sector is increasing,” said Mrunal Joshi, CEO and vice-chairperson of Nichrome India.
The company also showcased two new models from its horizontal form-fill-seal range. The models address larger pouches and higher-speed applications, with the higher-volume machines targeting food, personal care and home care products. The range also covers high speed sachet applications in pharmaceuticals.
Nichrome used the exhibition primarily to meet customers, discuss projects and present new equipment rather than measure the event only by orders closed at the stand. “We look at it from networking, from meeting the customers at one place and showcasing whatever new projects we are launching,” Joshi said.
The customer discussions also highlighted a clear preference for more integrated packaging solutions. Instead of sourcing individual machines for different stages, customers increasingly looked for suppliers that could provide complete packaging lines. “The biggest trend I would say is now the customers are looking at complete end-to-end Automation systems,” Joshi said. “It’s not just one equipment.”
