Mondi showcases semi-chemical fluting portfolio for strength and moisture resistance

-

Mondi is highlighting its semi-chemical fluting solutions, designed to perform reliably in challenging conditions, from long-distance transport to cold storage and high-humidity environments.

Its semi-chemical portfolio includes ProVantage Powerflute, made from 100% fresh fibre and developed for applications requiring maximum strength and resistance to variable climates; ProVantage Frescoflute, offering excellent dimensional stability and compression strength during processing and storage; and ProVantage Aquaflute, optimized for environments where short-term moisture and water resistance are essential.

These containerboard grades are widely used across industries with complex requirements, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and deep-frozen products, meat, poultry and seafood, as well as industrial, chemical and automotive applications. Optimizing paper choice and grade combinations across all layers of corrugated packaging enables right-weighted solutions that balance material efficiency with reliable protection across converting, packing and distribution.

Compared to waste-based alternatives, fresh fiber-based semi-chemical fluting offers significantly lower creep parameters, which is essential in corrugated boxes maintaining stacking strength over time under changing humidity and load conditions. Mondi supports customers with advanced creep testing that simulates real-life transport conditions, helping reduce the risk of performance failure and product damage.

“In demanding supply chains, material choice is key to ensuring packaging performance,” says Gijs Huisman, sales director for Mondi’s containerboard business. “Our premium semi-chemical fluting grades leverage the strength of fresh fibre to deliver excellent creep performance, enabling reliable, high-quality solutions. We support our customers to create packaging that arrives exactly as intended, no matter how complex the product or its journey.”
