MeetingPack 2024’s round-table discussions on 2030 targets and packaging trends

-

MeetingPack, the meeting organized by AIMPLAS and AINIA every two years, which unites the entire agri-food barrier packaging value chain, will hold its sixth edition with the participation of thirty specialists who will analyze, in eight thematic sessions, the sector’s prospects for meeting the sustainability targets set by the 2030 Agenda.

With this in mind, the companies Kuraray, UBE, Total Corbion and Lactips will present their innovative proposals for materials, including alternatives to conventional materials such as those obtained from renewable sources, recyclables and biodegradable and compostable materials.

The session on innovations in barrier packaging will feature companies working on packaging innovations that improve materials’ environmental performance while maintaining their functionality for food preservation. This is the case with Rotoprint, Sealed Air, Plastienvase and Innotech in flexible packaging and Acesur, Faerch and Danone in rigid packaging.

Reuse and recycling are some of the keys to achieving more environmentally sustainable barrier packaging. MeetingPack 2024, which will be held on 10-11 April 2024 at the Valencia Conference Centre, will therefore set aside an entire session for reusable packaging solutions, sanitization systems, legislation and new business models with contributions from Bumerang. Another session will focus on the end of life of packaging. On this occasion, the companies Veolia and Fyntech, among others, will address the latest developments in packaging management, separation and recycling, as well as legislation on food contact products.

A new feature in this year’s edition will be two sessions with a round-table format that aim to give a voice to different stakeholders, including manufacturing companies, distribution chains and consumers. In the first round-table discussion, firms such as Pascual, García Carrión, Florette and Vicky Foods will present their strategies to meet the 2030 targets and thus comply with the Spanish Royal Decree on packaging. Recyclability, recycled content, reuse and the use of bioplastics will be some of the key topics addressed in this session.

The second round-table discussion will focus on the distribution sector, represented by organizations that include ACES, the Terra Alegre Group: Jerónimo Martins Agro-Alimentar and Carrefour, as well as consumers, represented by Hispacoop, who will offer their perspective on packaging trends and needs.

MeetingPack 2024 is supported by sponsoring companies that include Raorsa, Comexi, Enplater, Faerch, Grupalia, Innotech, Knauf Industries, Kuraray, Lubrizol, Quimóvil, Spg, Sealed Air, Total Energies-Corbion, Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, TPL and UBE, and the collaboration of important entities and organizations in the packaging and food industries.

The media impact, sponsor stands and networking and exhibition area, not to mention the visibility that such a prestigious venue as the Valencia Conference Centre offers this sixth edition of MeetingPack, are just some of the main advantages enjoyed by the companies supporting the event.
