Lecta launches PFAS-free grease-resistant paper for flexible packaging

Lecta has announced the launch of Creaset HGP, a new grease-resistant paper aimed at flexible packaging applications such as pet food bags and butter wraps. The product is said to offer a strong grease barrier while also being free from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of chemicals increasingly scrutinized for their environmental and health impacts.

According to Lecta, Creaset HGP is a one-side coated paper designed to maintain product freshness and protection without compromising recyclability. The company reports that the paper has received a recyclability score of 95 out of 100 from the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and a Level A certification from Aticelca, indicating its compatibility with existing recycling streams.

The paper is also compatible with common printing processes, including flexographic, offset, and rotogravure, allowing for a range of design and branding options.

Creaset HGP is manufactured under several international certifications, including ISO standards for quality, environmental management, and energy efficiency. It also complies with food safety standards and is available with PEFC or FSC Chain of Custody certification on request.

The launch complements Lecta’s existing portfolio of barrier papers, including Metalvac GP PFAS-free, and reflects the industry’s broader push toward sustainable and recyclable alternatives in flexible packaging.
