At Printpack India 2025, Kurz India showcased its latest advancements in digital embellishment and sustainable packaging solutions. In an exclusive interaction, Jitender Pal Singh, CEO of Kurz India, shared insights on the company’s participation, innovations, and vision for the future of the Indian packaging industry.

At the show, Kurz introduced its digital embellishment technology to the Indian market for the first time. “We showcased this machine at drupa, and now we are bringing it to India. This marks a significant milestone for us as digital embellishment technology is set to revolutionize the industry,” Singh said.

In addition to digital embellishment, Kurz presented other first-time launches, including the Silver Line finishing line and the innovative 60-degree design concept for packaging boxes. “We are also unveiling DreamComposer, a unique software that allows designers to create 3D packaging designs online and share them with brands instantly, streamlining the approval process and improving efficiency,” he added.

Trends shaping the Indian market

According to Singh, sustainability is a key driver in the packaging sector. “More and more brands and end users are actively seeking sustainable packaging solutions. Kurz has always been conscious of environmental responsibility, and we are at the forefront of offering sustainable foiling solutions,” he said. He also highlighted the increasing shift towards digital embellishment, predicting steady growth in its adoption across the Indian market.

Sustainability at the core

Kurz has been taking significant steps to enhance the sustainability of its products. Singh elaborated, “Globally, all our products meet the highest environmental standards. We are continuously working to minimize our carbon footprint. One of our key achievements has been reducing the thickness of our polycarrier from 12 microns to just 6 microns – cutting its carbon footprint by 50%.” He expressed satisfaction in the company’s contribution to environmental conservation, reinforcing Kurz’s commitment to sustainability.

Future expansion plans in India

While Singh confirmed that Kurz has plans to expand in the Indian market, particularly in the foiling and machine solutions segment, he refrained from revealing specific details at this stage. “There are concrete expansion plans, but we are not in a position to disclose them just yet,” he said.

A bright future for Indian packaging

Discussing the broader outlook, Singh is highly optimistic about India’s packaging sector. “India is one of the fastest-growing large economies with the highest pool of young consumers. Increased consumption directly fuels demand for high-quality packaging,” he explained. He noted that young consumers are gravitating toward premium, visually striking packaging that aligns with international standards, thereby driving the growth of embellishment solutions in India. “Considering all these factors, the future of the Indian packaging industry looks very promising,” he added.

A call for industry-wide sustainability

Singh concluded with a strong message for the industry: “The time to switch to sustainable solutions is now. India faces immense challenges related to pollution and population density. As an industry, we must adopt eco-friendly technologies and product ranges at the earliest. The sooner we embrace sustainability, the better it will be for the country and future generations.”
