German-based packaging and bottling machine manufacturer has initiated the establishment of a new manufacturing plant worth Rs 315 crore in Vemagal, Kolar district. The groundbreaking ceremony, led by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, took place recently.
This project is a significant part of the Rs 10.27 trillion investment proposals from the Global Investors Meet (GIM) Invest Karnataka 2025. Patil highlighted the government’s commitment to realizing investment projects, citing Krones’ decision as a testament to this effort.
Prior to GIM, Patil visited Germany in December last year, engaging in discussions with Krones officials and signing a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding at the company’s headquarters in Neutraubling.
The new plant is expected to create 550 job opportunities. At the ceremony, Patil emphasized that the Vemagal facility would substantially increase Krones’ capacity for manufacturing bottling machines. He also urged the company to support families of farmers who have lost their land for the project by offering employment opportunities and allocating Corporate Social Responsibility funds for local development.
