Kongsberg Ultimate wins 2024 Pinnacle Product Award

-

The Kongsberg Ultimate is now a multi-award-winning cutting system, after receiving a prestigious PRINTING United Alliance 2024 Pinnacle Product Award – the second award bestowed on the new technology in a month.

Launched by Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems just six months ago, the new Kongsberg Ultimate has been honored in the Lasers/Routers/Cutters (4 x 8 inches or larger) category after the esteemed panel of judges from across the printing industry evaluated the annual contest’s 160+ entries.

“We always believed the Ultimate would raise the bar and set new standards in corrugated production,” said Stuart Fox, president and CEO of Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems. “Following our recent EDP Award for Best Wide Format Cutting Solution at drupa, receiving the Pinnacle Product Award from PRINTING United Alliance further underscores the technical innovation and exceptional work of the entire Kongsberg team in developing and launching the Ultimate.”

Open to all PRINTING United Alliance supplier members, the Pinnacle Product Award competition evaluates products that will be available for sale in 2024.

“With global demand pushing corrugated converters to produce faster, safer, and more efficiently, the Kongsberg Ultimate is a quantum leap in technology,” said Stuart. “Showcasing it worldwide, customers are impressed by its acceleration rate of up to 2.74G and cutting speed of 168 meters per minute, meeting the unique challenges of high-volume, multi-batch production.

“The Kongsberg Ultimate is engineered for precision and built for productivity,” said Stuart. “This game-changing digital cutting platform offers unparalleled productivity, precision, and safety. It maximizes efficiency and quality in corrugated operations, providing converters with a significant competitive advantage and transforming the corrugated production industry.”

The Kongsberg Ultimate’s impressive performance stems from key technical innovations. The new Kongsberg PrecisionDrive system, featuring a high-torque motor with a rack and pinion setup, enables unmatched acceleration and cutting speeds. Its traverse, crafted from a single filament of carbon, ensures strength and minimal bending, even under 50 kg downforce. Safety is enhanced by the Kongsberg SmartZone dual-zone safety system, which monitors the table’s surroundings, slowing it down when the operator is near and pausing it when even closer.

“To win this second successive award is an incredible achievement,” added Stuart. “This latest success reinforces Kongsberg PCS’s position as an industry leader and underlines our dedication to innovative solutions that empower businesses to maximize their potential in an ever-changing marketplace.”
