Kolkata-based Calprin ADS has invested in flexo pre-press and platemaking technology from Esko and Macdermid on the first day of the Pamex 2023 exhibition being held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from 27-30 March.

The company has invested in top-of-the-line ArtPro Plus workflow from Esko along with the high-resolution CDI prepress system and the latest XPS 4835 UV LED exposure. Along with that, the company also invested in the latest thermal technology Lava from Macdermid.

Calprin is a leading offset packaging printer based in Kolkata. The company has been making significant investments recently in adding in-house flexo prepress and platemaking technology to its existing business. The investment in the Esko prepress flexo technology and Macdermid Lava is in line with the company’s ambition to strengthen its in-house offerings to increase customer delight.

Dr. Sibesh Dubey, CEO, Calprin, said, “We are very happy with the investment and are pretty sure that we are going in the right direction. We already have the latest technology for packaging at our plant. Now we are considering ourselves for the next-generation flexo technology. Accordingly, we have installed flexo machines for cartons in addition to investing in the in-house prepress unit.”

Karan Talwar of Esko said, “Calprin is moving beyond offset technology and making a grand entry into flexo and prepress platemaking with the best of technology. It is quite an inspiring journey how they have achieved it. Our relationship with Calprin, especially with Dr Dubey, dates back to almost a decade. We have always been obliged with the kind of technology he uses and the kind of packaging he produces.”

Rahul Dwivedi of Macdermid said, “It is a very proud moment for us because it is not just the first installation of the Lava thermal technology in India but also our first system in India which is completely solvent-free.”
