Leading solvent recovery and washing systems manufacturer, IST has unveiled two new technological innovations – the TW and the Roto Plus – at the European Coating Show 2023 in Nuremberg, Germany.
TW – Control of the cleaning process
Made of sturdy painted steel, the TW consists of a single structure enclosing, pumps, a control panel, storage tanks and washing bay; the entrance of which can be positioned where most convenient for its operator. The bay is customized and adaptable to specific needs; to increase washing output and reduce downtime, a second washing bay may be added—this may be of a different design than the first – to wash different kinds of vessels, tanks or IBCs. The bay can also be buried to load at floor height.
Massimiliano Mingacci, global sales and marketing manager, IST, said, “IST’s concept is based on a unique modular design which allows the TW to be configured to specific requirements and to structure and enhance tidiness in the workshop washing area. The compact size also makes it possible to install the unit anywhere required, and even with an optional double washing bay, the footprint is limited.”
TW Washing System
Composed of a pneumatic cleaning head in AISI 316L – working at 40 bar pressure with flammable solvents and up to 200 bar with water and chemicals – the washing system is assembled on a retractable cylinder the head of which enters the tank only during the cleaning phase and moves up and down during the cycle. The optimized cleaning is then achieved by a positive displacement-diaphragm pump which is fed in-line by a pneumatic pump to ensure maximum suction. There are 2 additional pneumatic membrane pumps; one empties the vessel during the wash cycle, whilst the other, loads the storage tank. This method avoids contamination of the pumps and pipelines with dirty solvents and grants a perfect final result.
“The needs and requirements of users are changing rapidly, and so must those of a solution provider and not just its products. It is also, for this reason, that we are increasingly recognized as a brand, and not as a commodity, which instead happens to other companies operating in our sector,” said Davide Govoni, product manager of IST and leader of the TW project.
Also launched at the same event, on the opening day of the European Coatings Show, was IST’s Roto Plus. Built on the reputation of its already successful predecessor, the Roto series, IST presented its audience with its latest high-tech evolution, the Roto Plus boasting features normally available only on large-sized units.
“With the evolution of the Roto Plus we wanted to eliminate the whim of proposing a technically unparalleled machine, and to instead offer never-before-seen technology to our customers that we believe will allow us to expand into new sectors,” explained Alessandro Galli, product marketing manager of IST.
