IMCD, a leading distributor, formulator, and solutions provider of specialty chemicals and ingredients has announced the opening of a new Coatings & Construction laboratory in Vienna, Austria. The facility will specialize in decorative paints and industrial coatings, allowing IMCD to support its partners in South East Europe (SEE) to develop new formulations in line with current market trends.

In addition to serving as a laboratory, the facility will also be used as a training center for customers and employees. It is equipped with an analytical area, a testing area, and a spraying chamber to apply finished formulations.

Johann Milchram, managing director of IMCD SEE emphasized the importance of supporting customers with new formulation developments. He said, “Our focus is on creating sustainable and innovative solutions that meet local market standards. Several formulation projects have already shown added value for our partners in the South East European region.”

Heinz Diethardt, laboratory manager, added, “With an international network of 14 laboratories and the exchange of know-how between our experts, we can guarantee maximized support for sustainable formulation development.”

The laboratory was officially inaugurated on 19 April 2023 in Markt Allhau, Austria with more than 30 customers from five different countries attending the ceremony. Piet van der Slikke, IMCD chief executive officer; Frank Schneider, business group director Coatings & Construction and member of IMCD group executive committee; and Jerome Bollard, technical director Coatings & Construction were present to inaugurate the new facility.
