HP India unveiled three new products at the 15th Printpack India exhibition. The company has for the first time showcased in India its flagship HP Indigo 15K digital press. The company also showcased the HP Indigo 100K digital press, which was launched virtually, and the HP Indigo 6K digital press. The company had one of the biggest participation this year with a total space utilization of 480 square meters at the expo.

“We have received a huge response at the show and I am sure the industry has rebounded with great resilience,” said A Appadurai, country manager, Indigo and Inkjet Business Solutions, HP India. “In addition to the latest technologies that we are showcasing at this event, what excites me the most are the new startups who have leveraged the HP digital technology, coming and showcasing their products at our stand. Their requirements are not huge but they are looking for value that will allow them to compete with bigger brands.

“In the last couple of years, a large number of start-ups have come up. They have requirements for short-run, high-quality labels. Since going to a traditional flexo printer would be too costly for them, they can now easily market their products using digitally printed labels and save huge costs.”

The new HP Indigo 6K is a narrow-web digital press for the label and packaging segment and uses higher opacity white for shrink sleeves, new inks including HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver, fluorescent pink, and a comprehensive white ink portfolio. “This press is making a huge wave across the world because of its productivity and automation level,” said Appadurai.

The HP Indigo 15K, which is aimed at commercial and photo printers, is equipped with FM screens and a wider range of substrates, with additional options up to 600 microns (24 pt). New inks include ElectroInks premium white and invisible yellow. “This B2 press is already a big hit in markets outside India. We are showcasing it for the first time in India and have already booked three orders for this press in the show.”

At the event, HP also showcased the HoloLens by Microsoft, an untethered mixed reality headset designed to help resolve real business problems with intelligent applications. Appadurai explained how this solution can help customers to reduce dependence on an expert to fix a problem in the press.
