Flint Group unveils Flexocure LEAP UV ink for food packaging safety

-

Flint Group has launched Flexocure LEAP, a new range of UV inks that help converters seamlessly adapt to changing migration compliance requirements. Built on a new resin system, Flexocure LEAP is designed to reduce the risk of photoinitiator (PI) migration in food packaging. The UV Hg curing technology safeguards food packaging by stabilizing PI compounds, minimizing migration, and ensuring stringent regulatory compliance. This advanced containment approach protects the integrity of printed packaging and enhances brands’ confidence and reputation by putting safety first.

Flexocure LEAP will be launched first in Europe, with plans for further global rollout to follow.

Marc Heylen, senior director, narrow web R&D and technology at Flint Group, said, “This is truly a market breakthrough in the safe and compliant printing of materials designed for the packaging of food and sensitive goods. As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, impacting not only ink and coating formulations but also the final printed package, the industry must adopt safer, future-ready solutions. Flint Group is investing in extensive research and development, and the result is that we are delivering robust technologies that meet these shifting demands, which enable us to support converters in maintaining long-term compliance and performance.

“Flexocure LEAP marks a bold leap forward for the Narrow Web sector, offering unmatched compliance with the latest UV safety regulations while anticipating future legislative shifts. With this cutting-edge technology, Flint Group is not just keeping pace with evolving demands; we are setting a new standard for food contact material compliance. This innovation delivers more than just a cure; it empowers converters with confidence, safety, and a competitive edge in every print run.”

Because of its chemistry, Flexocure LEAP provides a tangible advantage by simplifying migration testing requirements – resulting in greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness for converters, while maintaining the highest levels of compliance and safety.

Designed specifically to address migration risk in indirect food packaging – even on challenging substrates, such as polyethylene (PE) – Flexocure LEAP exceeds industry standards and offers complete versatility across a wide range of label and packaging printing applications. Engineered for exceptional print quality and performance, Flexocure LEAP delivers high curing speed, strong color strength, excellent adhesion, and outstanding press performance.

Paul Winstanley, vice president technology and product management, said, “At Flint Group, we are committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that offer converters greater business stability. Regulations are always evolving, and optimised inks like Flexocure LEAP make it easier to meet regulatory challenges.

“We have a strong legacy of pioneering technologies that propel narrow web printing into the future. This new range represents a major milestone – an exciting next chapter that reinforces our expertise and leadership in UV ink innovation and regulatory excellence. It’s a bold step forward for Flint Group, and even better news for our customers and the industry at large.”
