Flint Group, a global leader in inks and coatings for printing and packaging, has appointed Thunderbolt Offset Printing Solutions as the exclusive distributor for its offset packaging solutions portfolio across South Africa and neighbouring countries, effective 1 August 2025.

Thunderbolt, a well-established provider of printing technology and consumables across Southern Africa, was established in 1999 and focuses on the evolving needs of commercial and packaging printers in the region.

This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in Flint Group’s commitment to strengthening service delivery and customer support in the region. By joining forces with Thunderbolt – a trusted name in the industry with deep customer relationships – Flint Group reaffirms its focus on providing exceptional value, product quality, and responsiveness to the offset print market.

Heiner Klokkers, CEO and president of Flint Group Packaging Inks Europe, said, “We are excited about this new chapter and confident that our customers will continue to receive the highest standards of service and product excellence. Thunderbolt’s proven track record and customer-centric mindset make them the ideal partner to drive growth and innovation in the offset segment across South Africa.”

Gerry Baker, CEO, Thunderbolt, said, “We are delighted that Flint Group has selected us as their partner to introduce a dynamic new route to the Southern African market. The complementary product portfolios of both companies, combined with a shared customer base, make this collaboration a natural fit. We are confident that this partnership will deliver mutual value to Flint Group and its customers.”

The portfolio covered by Thunderbolt includes Flint Group’s industry-leading brands such as DAY, VARN, and K+E, all of which will now be distributed and supported by Thunderbolt’s dedicated team.

Klokkers concluded, “This partnership ensures continuity, availability, and technical excellence for printers throughout Southern Africa, reinforcing Flint Group’s long-standing commitment to the region’s print and packaging industry.”
