Domino celebrates hat-trick of investments in Digital Printing Solutions division

-
Domino’s New Digital Printing Training Centre

Domino Printing Sciences, the global expert in digital printing and, coding and marking, has made significant investments in its Digital Printing Solutions division as part of a commitment to broadening its range of solutions and services for the labels and corrugated packaging sectors.

Most recently, Domino has created a state-of-the-art training center close to its Cambridgeshire (UK) headquarters to provide courses and resources for its service engineers located across the world.

The newly inaugurated training facility is part of Domino’s broader strategy, which includes the formation of the Digital Solutions Programme. This program is dedicated to assisting label and packaging manufacturers in transitioning to digital production and optimizing workflows for maximum digital investment returns.

The state-of-the-art training center features three fully equipped laboratories with the latest digital printing technology, enabling a blend of theoretical and practical training. Engineers undergo extensive three-week courses covering the installation and servicing of Domino’s advanced technologies, including the K600i mono print bar, full-color inkjet presses such as the N610i and N730i, and the innovative N610i-R digital retrofit module designed for integrating digital printing into existing flexographic lines.

Julie Cross, technical director for digital printing at Domino, emphasized the importance of the training center in equipping engineers to provide exceptional service to customers. Plans for expanding the training courses and utilizing the labs for further development work on digital printing product improvements and new applications are in progress.

This investment aligns with Domino’s Digital Solutions Programme, which employs a specialized team of digital printing experts to support customers in maximizing their digital printing investments. From business analysis to workflow optimization and application development, the program aims to create a conducive business environment for increased opportunities in the short and long term.

Andrew Murden, global aftersales manager at Domino, highlighted the potential of digital printing for label and packaging manufacturers, acknowledging the challenges associated with transitioning to new technology. The Digital Solutions Programme is designed to address these challenges and guide customers toward achieving their strategic business goals.

Domino’s commitment to innovation is further demonstrated by its recent £6.6 million investment in the inks manufacturing plant in Liverpool, set to go live in 2024. This upgrade will grant Domino end-to-end control of the digital printing process, from design to manufacturing of digital printing presses, printheads, and UV digital printing inks.

These developments follow the launch of Domino’s European Digital Centre of Excellence in the Netherlands in 2022, offering tailored demonstrations and hands-on experiences with the company’s digital color label and corrugated presses. The investment aims to ensure consistent, high-quality output, meeting customer demands and exceeding expectations in the digital era.
