Swizett Packaging, an Ahmedabad-based packaging company, was established in 2021, but its story began much earlier. The company traces its roots back to 1990 when its founder, Jiteen Vadgama, embarked on his journey as a graphic designer. Over the years, that vision evolved into a full-fledged packaging enterprise that now employs around 50 individuals. Swizett operates from a modern facility covering 10,000 square feet, split between a carton manufacturing unit and a digital sticker facility.

Reflecting on the company’s growth, Vadgama explains, “We started small, but our focus on quality and precision has helped us carve out a niche in the industry.”

Strategic market focus

Swizett Packaging primarily caters to a range of industries including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, pesticides, and perfumery. This focus, Vadgama notes, is rooted in the high growth potential these sectors offer. “We have been working with the pharmaceutical industry since the 1990s, and over time, we have developed a deep understanding of its packaging needs,” he adds.

The company’s long-standing relationships and proficiency in pharmaceutical packaging have paved the way for success in other sectors as well, allowing Swizett to diversify its offerings while maintaining strong expertise in its core industries.

Investment in Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230

A key milestone for Swizett Packaging was the decision to install the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230. “The market is changing, especially in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics. There’s been a shift towards smaller, more personalized orders,” Vadgama explains. The AccurioLabel 230 was chosen to meet this demand for smaller, customized batches, offering high-quality print and ease of operation.

The machine has enabled Swizett to handle orders of all sizes, making it an ideal choice for both startups and large conglomerates. The new capabilities have also led to the emergence of a new market segment for roll stickers, which has not only appealed to existing customers but has also attracted a substantial number of new clients.

Expanding product portfolio

Vadgama shares that the installation of the AccurioLabel 230 has added a “missing arsenal” to Swizett’s product portfolio, significantly broadening the company’s ability to meet the needs of its diverse clientele. “We can now cater to both small startups and large enterprises, providing flexibility in terms of order quantities,” he says. The new roll sticker segment is just one of the areas that have seen growth thanks to this technological advancement.

Other key machinery investments

Beyond the AccurioLabel 230, Swizett Packaging has invested in several finishing machines to support its expanding product line. These include an intermittent rotary flexo coater with diecutter, a flatbed hot foil stamper, and a slitter rewinder with visual inspection. “These additions have greatly enhanced our production capabilities,” Vadgama says, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to quality and precision.

Market trends and challenges

The packaging industry is witnessing divergent trends, according to Swizett. On one hand, smaller runs are increasing due to the innovative approaches taken by new startups and established companies alike. On the other hand, larger SKUs are also on the rise, driven by brand owners expanding their presence in rural India and boosting exports.

When discussing the challenges associated with this segment, Vadgama is clear – “Quality is the only challenge left, and the KM AccurioLabel 230 is the perfect answer to that.”

Long-term customer satisfaction and evolving technology

“Swizett Packaging is committed to ensuring long-term customer satisfaction by continually evolving. We keep adapting to the changing needs of our clients, which is key to maintaining strong relationships,” Vadgama says.

Looking to the future, he reveals that the company is actively exploring new technologies that would further reduce the carbon footprint of its operations. “Sustainability is the new mantra at Swizett. We believe that it’s our responsibility to leave behind a better planet for future generations,” he concludes.
