Cortec has introduced a new packaging product called EcoSonic VpCI-125 HP permanent ESD stretch film, designed to provide lasting electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection together with corrosion inhibition for packaged goods.
The new stretch film differs from traditional pink poly antistatic films by offering permanent ESD protection that remains effective throughout the product’s life, addressing common concerns about the limited shelf life and stability of conventional static-dissipative wraps. It meets static decay requirements defined under MIL-STD 3010, Method 4046 both before and after stretching, helping maintain static dissipation during and after application.
In addition to electrostatic protection, the film incorporates vapor phase corrosion inhibitors (VpCI) that diffuse within the enclosed package to form a protective molecular layer on multiple metal types. This dual functionality makes it suited for industries that handle large electronics modules or other metal-containing items at risk of both static and corrosion damage.
Cortec says the film can be used on standard stretch-wrapping equipment and is safe to handle, with a translucent appearance that allows visual inspection of wrapped items without unpacking. The company also notes potential applications beyond electronics, including sectors where static buildup poses safety or product quality concerns.
The product expands Cortec’s EcoSonic packaging line, which focuses on combining protective performance with practical handling characteristics. Cortec encourages interested customers to contact the company for further information about the new stretch film and related packaging solutions.
