Brilliant Polymers, India’s leading manufacturer of laminating adhesives for flexible packaging, made its debut at interpack 2023 – the world’s largest trade fair for the packaging industry. With participants from 60 countries around the world, the global meeting of the entire packaging industry value chain was held in Dusseldorf from 4 – 10 May 2023. interpack 2023 was held in person after a hiatus of six years with more than 2,800 exhibitors and 143,000 visitors.

Reporting rapid growth in export sales, Brilliant Polymers managing director, Gaurav Talwar said, “With our strong customer base in Africa, the Middle East, South-East Asia and the Indian subcontinent, interpack was the perfect platform to meet our global customers as well as connect with new ones in focus markets, especially in and around Europe.”

Innovations in laminating adhesive technology

Standing true to its promise of technology, quality and service, Brilliant used the interpack platform to announce the launch of two innovative products – Brilliant Max Cure, a new series of fast-curing solvent-free adhesives; and GLYMO-Free high-performance solvent-based adhesive suitable for retort applications.

According to the company, the Brilliant Max Cure range of solvent-free adhesives is formulations based on pure MDI that provides an ultra-fast physical cure, 48-hour PAA decay, robust food safety compliance and enhanced environmental sustainability. “With a curing speed several times higher than existing offerings, the Max Cure range will bring converters the critical benefit of being able to fill flexible packages more quickly and safely and will offer several additional advantages,” said Talwar.

“Ultra-fast physical cure – quick development of bond and heat seal strength; enabling of slitting/pouching in short times; user-friendly; long pot life; excellent optical appearance – even at high running speeds; no misting; excellent chemical and heat resistance; compatible with modern ink systems are some of the additional advantages that Max Cure can provide,” added Talwar.

Brilliant Max Cure is being launched in India in Q2 of 2023 with the global launch expected in the third quarter of 2023.

GLYMO-free solvent-based adhesive

Brilliant is focusing its efforts on predicting future trends and developing product ranges that ensure the safety of people and the environment. This includes anticipating tightening regulatory constraints and offering solutions that meet customer expectations.

Brilliant Polymers’ HA960/A900 is a GLYMO-free high-performance solvent-based adhesive based on aliphatic isocyanates. It can be used for a wide range of high-performance applications and avoids the concern of migration of primary aromatic amines (PAA) which is a risk associated with adhesives based on aromatic isocyanates.

Brilliant HA960 has been designed as a modular system and is highly versatile. The base component can be combined with different hardeners to deliver a wide range of performance properties: for thermal processes such as sterilization, aggressive filling goods, and hot filling processes. The fields of application range from pet food and medical applications to convenience products.

“With the addition of these new products to its portfolio, Brilliant Polymers is poised for a period of significant growth and consolidation both in India and abroad. The company intends to return to interpack in 2026,” concluded Talwar.
