The Bobst K5 EXPERT vacuum metallizer

[dropcaps style=’2′]Bobst announced its participation at Chinaplas, in Shanghai, from 24 to 27 April 2018. At Hall 1 Stand E83, Bobst will present its unique range of web-fed printing and converting equipment and services intended to help converters in the label and flexible packaging industries achieve superior levels of productivity, product quality and substrate functionality. With gravure printing making the lion’s share of the printing technology of choice in China and South East Asia, Bobst will highlight the latest updates in its range of gravure presses.[/dropcaps]

“What makes our solutions so successful is that their flexibility provides the best market/product fit anywhere in the world,” explains Giovanni Caprioglio, sales director, Bobst webfed business. “This is most evident in South East Asia and China, where the best-selling RS 5002 and the 3.0 presses add that extra value to flexible packaging production that only a market-customized solution can provide. But the principle is also valid for other Bobst gravure presses that can be customized with inking/drying systems that optimize the process with market-specific variety of inks, for instance.”

In converting, Bobst’s solutions span a comprehensive range of equipment that covers a variety of process technologies able to handle the applications required by the global and local markets. Representative products in this domain are the best in class CL 750 multi-technology and SL 750 solventless laminators, the K5 EXPERT, a high-productivity metallizer for the packaging industry, the newly extended range of coating machines and the latest dedicated configurations of the ROTOEXTRUDER extrusion coating lines for flexible materials.

Referring more specifically to Bobst vacuum metallizing and process know-how, Steve Carey, managing director and head of the Vacuum Metallizing Product Line, Bobst Manchester commented, “Bobst is the only vacuum metallizing equipment supplier that also develops viable industrial solutions relating to new barrier substrates, such as the Alubond process and the AlOx converting turnkey solution. By providing much higher metal adhesion the Alubond eliminates the need for chemically treated films, while the AlOx converting process enables film manufacturers and converters to produce high barrier clear films with superior properties that can withstand the stresses of typical conversion processes with minimal loss on barrier permeation performance.”

Bobst CO 8000 coating line

Coating is another field where Bobst continues to enlarge its portfolio of CO coating lines to fulfill the increasingly diversified variety of applications demanded by film converters and manufacturers, as well as the requirements of the paper and aluminum foil markets.

In flexo printing, the update will cover both inline and CI machines. Uniting the entire workflow through centralized standards and fully digitized press operations is a reality for the Bobst range of narrow- and mid-web inline UV flexo presses, through unique Digital Flexo automation and REVO 7-color Extended Color Gamut printing. In wide web CI flexo, the novelty is the 20SEVEN CI flexo press launched in February 2018, whose notable improvements in process consistency and repeatability make it a perfect fit for the requirements of Extended Color Gamut printing.

Visitors to the stand will also receive hot news and the program preview of the inaugural Open House event to be held in May 2018 at Bobst’s brand new production plant in Changzhou, China. Dedicated to web-fed technologies, this state-of-the-art facility exemplifies Bobst commitment to be close to its customers and its resolve to continue strengthening its leadership in Asia.
