ACTEGA will bring its portfolio of sustainable solutions to interpack 2023

ACTEGA will bring its portfolio of sustainable solutions to interpack 2023. The interpack product line-up includes new ACTEseal PVC-free heat-seal lacquers for coffee capsules, GALACRYL UV DualCure soft touch coatings for tubes, ACTGreen Barrier Coatings, WESSCO POLAR UV silver coatings and more. With these latest products and many other innovations on show, ACTEGA will demonstrate how customers can offer cutting-edge products that also help meet brands’ environmental supply chain goals.

The launch of the new ACTEseal heat-seal lacquers marks a step forward in both sustainability and convenience for the coffee capsule market. The new heat-seal lacquers eliminate the need to use coatings containing PVC, which are harder to recycle and increasingly subject to regulatory restrictions.

“After several years of research and development we’re proud to introduce our new ACTEseal PVC-free heat-seal lacquers, which dramatically improve the recyclability of aluminum coffee capsules,” Stefan Brandhoff, head of sales flexibles EMEA, said. “We believe that our solution will become an industry standard and set the bar for responsible packaging.”

ACTGreen Sustainable Coatings, water-based overprint varnishes partly based on a mix of internally reused as well as conventional and bio-based materials formulated for use on folding cartons, publications, and commercial prints, and ACTGreen Barrier Coatings, a range of advanced water-based barrier coatings and next-generation thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) dispersions have been formulated with sustainability in mind – representing a significant step forward in eco-friendly packaging.

In addition, ACTEGA offers WESSCO POLAR UV silver coatings, an economical alternative to metalized board and hot or cold foil stamping. The highly reflective, brilliantly glossy surfaces are comparable in effect. Moreover, the coatings offer greater flexibility, efficiency, and improved sustainability.

“Recent years have presented many challenges for the industry. The added pressure of improving sustainability across the packaging supply chain is yet another challenge, but absolutely necessary. Therefore, our focus at interpack will reflect exactly what ACTEGA stands for – bringing innovative products to the market that make a real contribution to sustainability and that are able to ‘make the world a little bluer,’” added Timo Kondziela, global head of marketing, ACTEGA.

ACTEGA’s GALACRYL UV DualCure soft touch coatings for tubes, for example, offer a unique combination of aesthetic appeal and high functional performance. This water-based coating creates a soft-touch feel and eye-catching haptic effect while remaining resistant to scratches and abrasions – an ideal choice for the cosmetic industry.

The ACTEcoat range of effect coatings will also be showcased at interpack. This range provides a variety of high-quality, scratch- and chemical-resistant matt, glossy, and paper-touch finishes in both matt and transparent settings, allowing for enhanced brand recognition through an elevated packaging appearance.

interpack visitors also have a chance to explore ACTEGA’s range of coatings, inks, and adhesives for labels sleeve end-use applications such as beverage, food, health and personal care, pharma, household chemicals, and industrial chemicals. These include products for shrink sleeve applications, LED coatings for self-adhesive labels, water-based coatings for in-mold label applications, a range of coatings for low migration applications, and opaque whites.

At the show, visitors will also have the opportunity to see the latest samples of ACTEGA’s ECOLEAF technology – a sustainable, foil-less solution for metallic decoration.

“We look forward to meeting all our customers and partners at interpack 2023 and inviting them to discover how we can empower them to achieve their goals. With abundant information available, visitors will leave inspired and energized by the endless possibilities they can accomplish with ACTEGA’s products,” concluded Kondziela.
