Yerecic Label expands sustainable offerings with How2Recycle

-

Yerecic Label has expanded its sustainable product offerings by obtaining pre-qualification for four label constructions under the How2Recycle program, supporting customers in streamlining their own recycling label applications. The pre-qualification applies to the company’s SustainLabel! Preferred and SustainLabel! BOPP materials used in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging.

By securing pre-qualification letters, Yerecic Label enables brand owners and converters to include these documents when submitting packaging to How2Recycle for full label approval, potentially reducing the time needed for review of label materials already verified by Yerecic. The pre-qualification does not automatically make packaging recyclable, and complete packaging systems must still undergo full review before receiving a How2Recycle label.

Elizabeth Yerecic, executive vice president of sales and sustainability at Yerecic Label, said, “Pre-qualifying our label constructions through How2Recycle adds real value for our customers. It’s one more way we help simplify designing for recyclability – by doing the groundwork that helps brands move faster toward their packaging goals.”

Yerecic Label also highlighted that the company’s initial submissions provided insights into the How2Recycle process, enabling it to refine internal procedures for future pre-qualification efforts. Deanna Welsh, product development cross-functional team lead, said, “Submitting our first label constructions for pre-qualification gave our team valuable insight into How2Recycle’s process. Now we have a clear, repeatable procedure in place to continue expanding our library of pre-qualified materials, and we’re ready to help customers navigate their own How2Recycle submissions.”

The expanded pre-qualification status is part of Yerecic Label’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable packaging design and help customers align with evolving recycling standards.
