Bengaluru-headquartered ITW-Wintek Labels has become the first label printer in India to install the Gallus Labelmaster 440 flexo press. With 12 printing units, the newly installed press has a diecutting unit with cold foil and rotary screen capabilities. The press is installed at the company’s Bengaluru plant. ITW has another plant in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. In addition to the Labelmaster, ITW has also installed brand new slitter rewinder inspection machines at its Bengaluru plant.

The Gallus Labelmaster was first demonstrated at Gallus Innovation Days 2016 prior to its official launch at Labelexpo Europe in September 2017. Gallus Labelmaster comes in several modular variants and offers less complexity and can hit speeds up to 200 metres per minute.

With newer technologies and a more advanced and wider printing platform along with a combination of various printing processes, the Labelmaster will enable Wintek to become even more competitive in the market since bigger labels and longer runs can be run more productively and cost-effectively on this press. Because of the Labelmaster’s higher level of automation and flexibility in the printing process, there is also the prospect of further exploring the shrinkwrap label and in-mould label markets by Wintek.

Wintek’s Bengaluru plant has five label presses while Rudrapur plant has two. It has a 10-color ECS 340 with diecutting and rotary screen at Bengaluru in addition to an EM280 press with 13-colors (including a gravure unit) plus diecutting. In Rudrapur it has an EM280 12-color press in addition to an EM 280 9-color press.

Gallus Innovation Days 2018
This year again, the Gallus Innovation Days is going to witness a good number of label printers from India. So far, as many as 20 plus Indian label printers are expected to take part in the event at St. Gallen from 26 to 28 June 2018. A new and more affordable digital label printing system called Gallus Smartfire is going to be shown this year. More than 30 partner companies will present their products and services for the label business. Registrations can be done on the Gallus website.
