Clariant opens Indian healthcare packaging site

-

Clariant has completed the construction of its Healthcare Packaging production facility in Cuddalore, India, which is currently ISO 9001 certified, with other certifications expected to follow.

The site is capable of producing Clariant’s line of Sorb-it, Tri-Sorb, 2-in-1 Can, and Getter Can sorbent canisters for the growing Indian and Asia-Pacific pharmaceutical packaging markets. Additionally, as the Cuddalore site augments Clariant’s production capacity for desiccant canisters, it enables the production of identical products at multiple sites worldwide.

Clariant’s extensive manufacturing footprint ensures quick delivery and competitive pricing, as well as back-up capacity to meet the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) requirements of global players in the pharmaceutical industry. All products produced at the Cuddalore facility will meet US FDA and EU standards for use in pharmaceutical applications and will be USP compliant. The Cuddalore facility is equipped with an ISO Class 8 clean room and will implement GMPs and environmental controls with a path toward ISO 15378 certification.

Matthias Brommer, head of the Clariant Healthcare Packaging business line, said, “The new site has been validated as scheduled, and we look forward to serving customers with Clariant desiccants directly from Cuddalore. By manufacturing regionally, we will be able to provide improved supply and service to our significant customer base in India while further addressing important and emerging markets in Greater China, the rest of Asia and Australia.”
