Brilliant Polymers showcases sustainable innovations in laminating adhesives at ElitePlus 2025

Gaurav Talwar, managing director of Brilliant Polymers, during his presentation at ElitePlus 2025 conference

Brilliant Polymers, India’s leading manufacturer of laminating adhesives for flexible packaging, successfully marked its presence as a Platinum Sponsor at the 12th Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, on 3-4 September 2025.

On day one of the Summit, managing director Gaurav Talwar delivered a compelling keynote on Sustainable Innovations in Laminating Adhesives for Flexible Packaging. His presentation spotlighted the critical role of solvent-free adhesive technology in advancing sustainability across the packaging value chain – a theme that resonated strongly with the summit’s focus on innovation and circularity.

Five breakthrough innovations

Talwar unveiled five cutting-edge, solvent-free adhesive solutions from Brilliant’s sustainability-driven R&D program – each supported by real-world case studies:

Foil lamination

Brilliant’s Max Cure solvent-free adhesives have shown excellent performance in laminations involving foil for both first and second ply applications. These adhesives pass the Boiling Water Test even on polyolefin and metal surfaces, making them ideal for demanding applications such as ketchup, shampoo, hair dye, and dishwashing liquid packaging.

Bulk packs and thick poly lamination

Max Cure is also being widely used in heavy-duty laminations involving films up to 150 microns and bulk packaging up to 25 kg – including for rice, atta, and cement bags – delivering robust performance and operational efficiency.

Ink-friendly solvent-free laminating adhesives

The Max Cure range is compatible with a wide array of ink systems, including PU, NCPU, UV, digital, vinyl, and water-based inks. These adhesives serve as effective alternatives to solvent-based systems in applications such as snacks, pet food, tea, and dishwashing liquids.

No metal transfer

The SR75 / S631 reverse catalysed solvent-free adhesive ensures zero metal transfer in PET/MetPET and PET/MetPET/Poly laminates – making it easier for converters to shift from solvent-based systems. This technology is now being used for applications including shampoo and alcohol-based products.

High-gloss carton applications

Brilliant’s S755 Single Component Solvent-Free Adhesive delivers high performance for both flexible packaging and high-gloss carton applications. With fast cure, strong fiber tear, and excellent machinability, it ensures consistent results across formats such as tea bag sachets, mouth fresheners, and cartons for toothpaste, tea, and soap – all while enabling cost savings and sustainability.

Real impact

Brilliant’s innovative solvent-free technologies consistently deliver significant savings in applied adhesive cost, reduced energy consumption, zero VOC emissions, improved safety for operators, and a smaller carbon footprint.

Engaging the industry

The Brilliant Polymers stall and meeting room were buzzing with activity throughout the summit, attracting customers, partners, and industry experts interested in learning more about these advancements. The sales and technical services teams were actively engaged in in-depth discussions, exploring customised solutions for evolving packaging needs.

Speaking after the presentation, Talwar shared, “At Brilliant, we believe innovation and growth must go hand-in-hand with responsibility. Our solvent-free innovations represent our commitment to delivering real-world solutions that reduce environmental impact while driving operational efficiency and measurable savings for our customers.”
