The Okhla Printers and Providers Association (OPPA) has announced the election of its new governing body. Vinay Baveja of Viba Press has been appointed as president, while Ashwani Thapar from Pearl Printer will serve as senior vice president. Akhil Chopra of AP India and Naresh Chandna from Sai Print O Pack have taken on the roles of vice presidents. Gurpinder Singh Vohra from Kriti has been designated as the general secretary, with Mukt Nath Pandey of Avantika Printers as treasurer. The positions of joint secretaries are filled by Manish Sachan of Print Resorts and Mirza Khalid.

Marking its leadership transition, OPPA hosted a get-together and Diwali celebration on 26 October 2024, at Grand Dreams in Delhi. The festive event saw a strong turnout, with over a hundred members and industry professionals in attendance, celebrating both the new governing body and the spirit of Diwali.

Vinay Baveja, the newly appointed president, said, “Our team is enthusiastic and brings substantial experience to support fellow printers, helping the entire industry meet its growth objectives. Today, we recognize the need for more active local associations to address specific regional challenges effectively. OPPA remains dedicated to the development of printers, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers across the industry.”

OPPA also honored ML Garg of Brijbasi Art Press with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Upon receiving the award, Garg said, “In my decades in this industry, I have observed that our workers lack adequate training, though they are the backbone of our operations.” Garg proposed the establishment of a dedicated training institute in the Okhla Industrial Area to address this gap, and announced a contribution of Rs. 2 lakh to kickstart the initiative.

The event included a knowledge session from Parmeshwar Patidar of Indus Analytics, who educated attendees about automation and ERP. Patidar highlighted over 60 common issues that hinder growth in the packaging and printing industries and announced a complimentary full-day training for 50 OPPA members at the association’s request.

Akash Kumar from Monotech Systems spoke about the future of digital inkjet printing technology and print enhancement. He showcased Monotech’s solutions, including KnowzzleJet, Ricoh printing presses, and PixelGlow print embellishment equipment.

Additionally, Avinash Kumar Yadav from Impel Services presented post-press solutions for bookbinding and book manufacturing, specifically for both traditional and digital book printing. He shared that, with Impel’s extensive experience in bookbinding, they aim to address current challenges in book production and develop solutions tailored to meet unique industry needs.
