OQ expands water security portfolio with new PP pipe grade at K 2025

OQ, Oman’s global integrated energy group, today announced the launch of its latest polymer innovation, Luban RP6207B, a polypropylene random copolymer (PPRC) grade engineered for hot and cold-water distribution pipes. The new grade will debut at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, alongside 17 new PP and PE polymer solutions, marking OQ’s largest-ever product showcase at the world’s leading plastics and rubber trade fair.

Building on the success of Luban LL-R3605UV, introduced in 2024 for rotomoulded water tanks, Luban RP6207B represents OQ’s continued commitment to advancing water security solutions. The grade is designed for residential, industrial, and infrastructure applications, offering durability and pressure resistance to ensure reliable performance in demanding environments. It features advanced melt strength that helps maintain pipe shape and integrity during processing, along with outstanding corrosion resistance that eliminates rust, scale buildup, and chemical degradation typically associated with traditional metal pipes.

“With Luban RP6207B, we are expanding our water security portfolio and addressing one of the most urgent infrastructure needs of fast-growing urban centers worldwide,” said Abdul Rahman Al Tamtami, vice president of global marketing at OQ Marketing. “This innovation underscores our focus on developing customer-centric solutions that combine technical performance with real-world impact.”

Alongside the new PPRC grade, OQ is presenting 17 new PP and PE grades, developed to tackle global challenges across packaging, infrastructure, and sustainability. These include PP impact copolymers, random copolymers, homopolymers, and additional LLDPE roto and injection moulding solutions. All grades are fully commercial and application ready.

“At K 2025, we’ll demonstrate how polymers can drive progress on water security, food safety, and energy efficiency,” added Sadiq Al Lawati, managing director of OQ Marketing. “Our customers can expect not only high-quality grades and an expanded portfolio, but also the technical support and collaborative mindset to bring these solutions to life.”
