At Labelexpo India 2018, Faridabad-based flexo press manufacturer Multitec and inkjet integration specialist Domino have announced the joint development of a hybrid UV inkjet-flexo press.

Speaking about the new development, Amit Ahuja, director of Multitec, said, “I have known Ajay RaoRane of Domino for a long time now and shared with him our desire to do something in the digital segment. After he moved to Domino, it turned out to be the perfect opportunity for us since we were looking for a partner to move into the digital space. In addition, we have seen that people are talking more and more about hybrid presses. So we thought, why not enter this segment and give them an Indian option rather than expensive, completely-made-in-Europe ones.”

Ahuja added, “We are going to use our S1 platform with Domino’s N610i. It is a proven platform so we will continue with this. N610i digital print engine is an open system and can be integrated to a press very easily. In addition, we studied the control system of Domino and it is compatible with ours. So it’s a good fit.” Multitec’s S1 is a shaft-less full servo narrow web flexo press for printing flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels.
