Mondi Group has announced that Mike Powell will be appointed as group chief financial officer and as an executive director of Mondi. The effective date of Mike’s appointment will be announced in due course. Mike succeeds Andrew King who was appointed as Mondi’s group chief executive officer in April 2020. Mike’s appointment follows a thorough recruitment process involving internal and external candidates.

Mike has a Bachelor of Science in computer science and accounting from the University of Manchester and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Mike started his career at Pilkington plc, spending 15 years in a variety of finance and operational roles. He went on to become Chief Financial Officer at Nippon Sheet Glass and then AZ Electronic Materials. He was subsequently appointed group finance director at BBA Aviation before taking up his current role as group chief financial officer at Ferguson. Mike was also a non-executive director of Low & Bonar from December 2016 to May 2020.
Mike will be appointed to Mondi’s Executive Committee with effect from his appointment to Mondi’s Board.
