THE PACKMAN

Korozo to showcases next-gen films at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2025

Korozo Group will showcase its latest flexible packaging solutions for the North American market at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2025, scheduled from 29 September to 1 October at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

At Stand SL-19065, visitors can explore products developed to meet changing industry needs and learn more about the company’s sustainability-focused approach, reflected in its mission of Delivering Sustainability, Pack by Pack.

This covers recyclable packaging innovations, advanced pet food packaging solutions, and an extensive portfolio of stand-up pouches and high-performance barrier films. A new FDA-compliant vacuum skin packaging (VSP) film for fresh seafood will be presented. This delivers on the required oxygen transmission rate of at least 10,000 cc/sqm/24 hours, which ensures oxygen levels remain high enough to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.

Another highlight of Korozo’s participation at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2025 is its proprietary KoroRCY PE-based laminating film. The film is manufactured in-house using Korozo’s high-end extrusion lines. KoroRCY can be integrated into pouches, films, flow packs, and other pack structures, enabling brands to transition to MDO-PE flexible packaging designed to be recycled and circular.

KoroRCY is already used by many brands around the world to create highly functional mono-material constructions that are suitable for existing flexible plastics and PE recycling systems. These offer enhanced barrier and performance characteristics that make flexible packaging structures made with KoroRCY suitable for a wide variety of fresh, frozen and dried food applications as well as many non-food uses.

With Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws already passed in multiple states and moving into implementation, and others following suit, packaging designed to be recycled is becoming critical for US brands and retailers, as one-fifth (20%) of the population in the US is shortly to be covered by EPR laws.

Coupled with this is a strong drive to introduce recycled content quotas. Whilst not adopted at a federal level, numerous states have their own laws that confirm minimum recycled content requirements. Others are following suit.

Korozo is already able to offer MDO-PE mono material packaging structures for non-contact sensitive applications that feature 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. The PCR percentage is being advanced and will surpass 35% by the end of the decade for non-contact sensitive products. By 2040, the PCR total will be at or above 65%.

Dr Betül Türel Erbay, chief innovation and sustainability officer at Korozo, said, “Our position at the heart of tomorrow’s flexible packaging industry is built on our role today as a manufacturer of sustainable flexible packaging and films that are at the centre of the circular packaging value chain.

“Innovations such as KoroRCY are driving this. They are necessary to help the whole industry transition towards a sustainable and circular future. They also enable us to deliver on our promise: Delivering Sustainability, Pack by Pack.”
