The Barcelona Packaging Hub has highlighted motion solutions for pharmaceutical packaging equipment from technology partner HepcoMotion, which the Hub said provides linear and circular motion components for manufacturers of primary and secondary pharmaceutical packaging machinery.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) serving the pharmaceutical sector must build machinery capable of handling a wide range of products while meeting strict regulatory requirements, from vial and syringe handling to aseptic filling lines and blister packaging, with continuous, contamination-free production and high operational reliability. Manufacturing space is often limited, requiring compact transport systems that allow gentle product handling, high acceleration rates and rapid, software-driven format changeovers, according to the Hub.
HepcoMotion’s V guide technology is designed for cleanroom production environments, the company said. The V guide profile is said to continuously remove debris and particles from the running surface, reducing unplanned downtime, while the SL2 stainless steel linear guide range is suited to cleanroom environments and washdown procedures. Smooth component surfaces are intended to minimize dirt traps and support compliance with pharmaceutical hygiene and validation requirements, and bearings are available for use in both steam sterilization processes and cryogenic applications, the company said.
For machine builders integrating high-speed linear motor technology, HepcoMotion offers its GFX guidance system, which enables independent control of each mover and is designed to convert conventional rigid production lines into more flexible manufacturing platforms. The system’s layouts can be arranged in horizontal, vertical or stacked configurations to optimize floor space in pharmaceutical production facilities, and its modular architecture is intended to simplify system integration and provide scalability for future production needs.
The GFX Track Management System (TMS) is built for high-performance pharmaceutical production and includes real-time lane switching to merge multiple production flows, buffering and product recirculation without stopping the line, accelerations and speeds of up to 10 m/s for indexing, and structural rigidity intended to maintain micron-level positioning accuracy during filling, dosing and inspection operations under dynamic loads, according to the company. Combining mechanical guidance with independent mover control is intended to enable software-driven format changeovers, allowing manufacturers to respond to varied production batches, the company said.
Beyond closed-loop track systems, HepcoMotion’s pharmaceutical sector portfolio includes curved guide systems, driven track systems such as the PRT2 and DTS ranges, and ready-to-install linear actuators, which the company said are intended to help engineering teams reduce machine design and assembly times.
The Barcelona Packaging Hub said the presence of technology partners such as HepcoMotion strengthens its value proposition, combining packaging machinery designed and manufactured in Barcelona with linear motion technologies to deliver automated packaging line solutions.
