DuPont Cyrel highlights sustainable ReNew plates, Esko Quartz certification at LOUPE Americas 2026

DuPont Cyrel will present its Cyrel ReNew plate family to label and packaging converters at LOUPE Americas, held 15–17 September 2026 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago, where the company is featuring its latest advancements in sustainable and high-performance flexographic platemaking at Stand 327.

ReNew is DuPont’s newest development in flexographic printing sustainability. The plates are said to offer a lower carbon footprint, as they are made using a photopolymer containing more than 50% certified bio-circular raw materials sourced from renewable natural sources, supported by ISCC PLUS-certified traceability through a mass balance approach.

The plate series was recognized with a Sustainability Award at the FTA Forum Infoflex 2026 and has been named a finalist for the Sustainability Award at the Labels & Labeling Global Awards, with winners to be announced during a ceremony on the opening day of LOUPE Americas.

“Across the labels and packaging value chain, sustainability expectations continue to increase, and printers are looking for solutions that deliver measurable environmental benefits without disrupting production,” said PJ Fronczkiewicz, North America technical marketing and service leader with DuPont Cyrel Flexographic Solutions. “Cyrel ReNew was developed to meet that challenge, providing a practical path toward a significant reduction in reliance on virgin resources while maintaining the performance our customers depend on every day.

“This not only reduces reliance on fossil-based resources but also contributes to a meaningful reduction in the carbon footprint for customers, distinguishing Cyrel ReNew with what the company describes as an unmatched percentage of renewable content in the market,” said Fronczkiewicz. “Designed as a drop-in solution, Cyrel ReNew enables printers and converters to reduce reliance on fossil-based raw materials while maintaining the quality, consistency, and productivity expected from DuPont Cyrel technologies.”

Beyond Cyrel ReNew, visitors to the DuPont stand will be able to explore the company’s broader portfolio addressing operational efficiency, quality, and sustainability in flexo. The stand will also feature the Esko CDI Quartz plate imager, which the company says enables printers and converters to achieve new standards in flexographic print quality. The Quartz ecosystem features a dual optics system combining the optics of the CDI Crystal with Quartz Optics technology, which, paired with the DuPont Cyrel FAST system, is said to produce plates suited to high print output and press stability. Three Cyrel plates – Cyrel Easy ESXR, Cyrel Easy EPR2, and Cyrel Fast Easy EFXR – have been certified for the Esko Quartz workflow, validating the plates’ performance within the imaging workflow.

“The certification of Cyrel Fast Easy EFXR is particularly significant as it is the first thermally processable plate certified for the Esko Quartz workflow,” said Fronczkiewicz. “This allows converters and tradeshops to combine the precision and repeatability of Quartz imaging with the operational and environmental benefits of thermal platemaking.

“The DuPont Cyrel FAST system is helping label converters raise the bar on print quality while accelerating turnaround,” said Fronczkiewicz. “Combining flexo plate technology with solvent-free thermal processing, the FAST workflow develops plates in minutes using heat instead of traditional washout chemistry, delivering sharp highlight dots, clean vignettes, and smooth tonal transitions with consistent plate-to-plate repeatability. The result is image reproduction, text, and linework that define a premium label, giving converters the speed and consistency to win demanding, high-mix work while delivering the print quality customers expect to see on the shelf.”

The FAST system is said to help printers reduce processing time, eliminate solvent handling, and support more sustainable production practices, contributing to lower waste generation and reduced energy consumption compared with conventional solvent-based workflows. The FAST workflow was recently certified by GreenCircle as delivering 20% less energy consumption. Building on the foundation of LSH ReNew, Cyrel plans to extend the ReNew platform to thermal-processed plates, increasing the availability of lower-carbon solutions in flexographic printing.
