Polmlek installs IMA Fillshape for aseptic spouted pouch dairy packaging

Poland’s dairy producer Polmlek has installed an advanced aseptic filling line from IMA Fillshape to support the production of a new range of dairy products and desserts in spouted pouches. The investment enables the company to expand its packaging capabilities and meet evolving consumer preferences for convenient, lightweight formats.

The new packaging solution uses the Ermetika Aseptic EAS240, a continuous-motion rotary filler capable of producing up to 240 pouches per minute. The system works with pre-made pouches, spouts and caps, and includes internal and external sterilization using vaporized hydrogen peroxide to maintain aseptic conditions throughout the filling and capping processes.

Spouted pouches are assembled on a welding carousel before sterilization and are filled and sealed inside a sterile isolator. Dedicated systems support cleaning and sterilization cycles, ensuring hygiene and compliance with aseptic processing requirements.

Polmlek is using the new line to fill an expanded portfolio of products including a homogenized cheese strawberry dairy product, prebiotic strawberry dairy, nut and chocolate milk desserts, and a strawberry-flavored dessert under the Poezja LUX brand. The technology allows production of extended shelf life products for refrigerated distribution with a shelf life of up to 60 days, as well as fully aseptic high- and low-acid products that can be stored at ambient temperature for six to 12 months.

Polmlek’s vice president, Monika Białobrzewska, said the new aseptic production line is a significant milestone for the company. She noted that the installation of Poland’s first aseptic spouted pouch rotary filler gives Polmlek a competitive advantage by introducing ESL and aseptic dairy products and desserts in innovative packaging.

Spouted pouches are positioned as a practical solution for consumption in offices, hotels, cafés and on-the-go environments.
