Markem-Imaje’s coding and marking equipment has been used across Amica Chips’ production lines for more than twenty years, supporting the Italian snack manufacturer’s automated warehouse and packaging operations. Over a hundred Markem-Imaje printers are currently installed at Amica Chips, with the marking process managed through the CoLOS software platform.
Amica Chips was founded in 1990 with a focus on the sense of togetherness the company says its products evoke among consumers. “My dad built Amica Chips in 1990. Over the years, we have always invested in innovation, and today we have a fully automated warehouse that holds more than 10,000 pallet spaces,” said Oscar Moratti, general manager of Amica Chips.
Markem-Imaje describes its role in serving Amica Chips as both a business collaboration and a broader responsibility. The company’s marking systems, run through the CoLOS software, are said to have made the process fully automated. “Today we have no recalls, we have no rework due to human error,” said Paolo Rizzardi, production manager at Amica Chips. “A product recall always leaves a bad impression with the customer.”
According to Amica Chips, Markem-Imaje remains its provider of choice, citing the reliability of its coding equipment and software as well as the support received during installations and after-sales service. The two companies reportedly have several ongoing projects in the planning stage.
Massimiliano Scomparin, account manager at Markem-Imaje, pointed to the working relationship between the two companies as a factor in the partnership’s continuity. “The collaboration with Amica Chips is a path made up of trust, constant presence and mutual growth. It is not just a matter of installing coding and traceability systems, it’s about understanding the needs of a company that has transformed, expanded and faced new challenges and new markets over time,” he said.
Over the course of the partnership, the equipment used has evolved from Markem-Imaje’s first thermal transfer overprinters (TTO) and print-and-apply units to its current CoLOS platform, large character inkjet printers such as the 5800 Series with Touch Dry technology, and its latest TTO and continuous inkjet printer models.
Guido Torriglia, sales director at Markem-Imaje Italy, said the company’s goal is to support customers’ brand protection, process optimization, and sustainability objectives. “Our goal is to contribute to our customers’ success by providing solutions that protect their brand, optimize processes, support their sustainability goals, and generate long-term value,” he said.
Markem-Imaje said the collaboration with Amica Chips reflects its broader approach of providing end-to-end coding and traceability solutions to customers worldwide.
