Rotatek to showcase Universal 850 hybrid press at Open House in Barcelona

-

Rotatek Printing & Packaging Technologies, a global manufacturer of rotary web offset hybrid printing and converting solutions, will unveil its latest innovation the Universal 850 printing press, at an exclusive Open House from 12 to 16 January 2026 at its manufacturing facility in Barcelona, Spain.

The Universal 850 is a rotary press that combines offset and flexo sleeve technologies, delivering high-quality printing across a wide range of substrates. The press is designed for multiple applications, including pharma inserts, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and in-mold labels (IML), making it suitable for both mature and emerging markets.

Rotatek Universal web-offset printing combines the core advantages of flexo and sheetfed offset while eliminating their limitations – delivering a superior quality, economical solution for high-performance in-mold label production.

Live demonstrations will be focused on IML and shrink sleeves and include the Rotatek Universal 850, configured with 7 offset and 2 flexo printing stations, representing Rotatek’s most advanced and flexible press platform, and the Rietstack 850 offline die-cutting system, completing a fully integrated IML production workflow.

The Open House is aimed at addressing the needs of a wide spectrum of packaging and printing professionals, including IML producers who are already active in the segment or planning to enter it in the near future. It is equally relevant for large sheetfed offset printers looking to transition to more efficient web-fed production environments, as well as flexo converters aiming to lower recurring plate costs while achieving a return on investment within three to four years. Additionally, the event targets packaging producers that require long repeat lengths of up to 1,016 mm, or those focused on scaling up capacity while simultaneously reducing waste, labour requirements, and overall production costs.

One of the key innovations of the Universal 850 is Rotatek’s patented interchangeable light offset sleeve system, which enables fast and efficient format changes. Job changeovers are completed by simply removing and replacing sleeves, reducing downtime and eliminating the risk of material breakage during transitions.

Along with its strong offset print performance, the Universal 850 offers format flexibility, quick job changes, and lower origination costs. Offset plates are significantly more economical than flexo plates or rotogravure rollers, providing converters with a clear cost advantage while maintaining consistent print quality.

The Open House will provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of how the Universal 850 addresses productivity, flexibility, and cost-efficiency requirements across diverse packaging solutions. The registrations for visitors are currently open at the Rotatek and parent company Vinsak’s website.
